GS quatrz watches are mechanical in nature, there is a train of gears running the hands and the date wheel. Having the date wheel snap at the correct position within 4 minutes of the date change is amazing accuracy actually in this context. Many expensive automatics miss the mark by hours. Moving the date wheel is a once-a-day event and there always is (has to be for it to work) some slack in the gear system.
You should understand that if you want a quatrz watch with on-the-spot date change you have to get one with “smart” quartz technology, which has a separate time keeping “computer” and set of electric motors moving the hands and the date wheel. Something like Longines V.H.P… While they look like watches on the outside their inner workings are not watchlike in the traditional sense of the word. Grand Seiko quatrz watches are old school in this sense, mechanical throughout, except that a quartz governed stepper motor runs the gears, not a spring.
