I was left this by my Grandad, just wanted to know more about it.
Not the best picture but I hope it is OK.
Sorry to hear about your grandad. Looks to be race related with a ‘twist’ given the chequered markers, and the name of course. Any chance you can provide us with a picture of the back, the bracelet’s internal side and the bracelet clasp?
Looks like 60s-70s to me. A pic of the movement might help to date it more accurately.
Steel back so the case and bracelet are gold plated.
Monetary value not very high. Emotional value is up to you to decide.
Lots of makers used the brand Grand Prix together with other terms.
These two might have used it on its own, but thats not sure.
And anyway everybody could have ordered and sold a batch with any brand they liked as long as they stayed outside the countries where it was registered.
If your watch is from Baumgartner you’re stuck with a pin lever movement.
You might start a search on Ebay. there’s about 700 - 800 hits for wristwatches and "grand prix"
Good luck.
Thanks for the information, I didn’t think it was of much monetary value, It still works as soon as you pick it up, so still a good one. I will be keeping it, I appreciate your help.
