Al enkele weken woedt er een heuse hetze omtrent de Hodinkee watch shop.
Geprezen om ‘onafhankelijke’ (ook serieus betwistbaar) verslaggeving, hoe kan een blog nu nog een label van neutraal houden als ze de horloges de hemel in prijzen en ze later zelf verkopen.
Soit, we konden toch stellen dat er een redelijke serieuse groep experts achter Hodinkee schuil gaat, en ze Fakes en Frankens in de bekende ‘Bring a Loupe’ serie uitlichten.
Nu blijkt dat de ‘Hodinkee Certificate of Authenticity’ niet echt het Shining-Beacon of light in de verzamelaars community schikt te worden.
THE NITTY GRITTY
With the exception of a service crown, this Omega Speedmaster is a great example of a 145.012SP. This watch is complete with original Dot Over Ninety and the Dot Diagonal 70 bezel, wide and tall pushers. The case is scuffed throughout from regular wear and age. The one thing to note is the lume on the handset is darker than on the indexes, but this is normal for this reference and is not something to be concerned about. Overall a very nice Speedy.
Klein probleempje, dit is helemaal geen 145.012, Dit is een Central Boites cased 105.012-66 met foute caseback, foute pushers, foute kroon, en ga zo maar door. De originaliteit van het mouvement is bediscuteerbaar (overlap tussen vroege 145.012 en 105.012-66CB) maar een Extract zou dat moeten oplossen.
Voor de kenners een leuke oefening haal de foutjes eruit 
Kunnen mensen een foutje maken? Tuurlijk. De verschillen zijn niet zo enorm voor een niet-speedy kenner (waar ik me zeker niet toe reken trouwens), en de caseback vermeld HF (Hugenin Freres) met 145.012.
Echter wou ik u de reactie niet onthouden van Hodinkee (geverifieerde bron trouwens).

I work for Hodinkee, and I am actually the one who found, and listed this Speedmaster.

I chose to describe our watch as a 145.012 for 3 reasons: the case back featuring this specific reference, the tall pushers that characterize this reference, and the serial number falling into the correct range for that reference.
I also wanted to stress out that calling that this watch a frankenwatch is incorrect as it was produced at a transitional time for Omega, and there were no absolute separation between the parts for 105.012 and the 145.012, so it could very well be born this way. Furthermore, given the higher price of the reference 105.012 using a CB case as a donor for a 145.012 would not make much sense.
I really appreciate the feedback and the attention to the Shop, and we will keep our attention to photograph and describe the watches in the most extensive way possible - although admittedly I could have done better with this Speedie today by adding a line to describe the case from Central Boîtes.
For that I wish to apologize, and I will also make sure going forward that we include a picture of the case back in the listing when it could be relevant, such as here.

Jammer genoeg is dit uiteraard bullshit. Als de kast caseback HF is gemarkeerd hoort deze op een niet CB-kast. En er is geen bekende fuck up in de fabriek gebeurt. (wijzertjes werden nog eens verwisseld maar casebacks? Toch niet bij Omega Speedmasters).
