Ik heb het gekregen van mijn vader (20 jaar in de la gelegen) en ivm hernieuwde interesse in horloges opnieuw bekeken.
Ik wil meer weten over het merk Pronto, historie etc. Volgens mij bestaat het niet meer. Het glas is erg beschadigd.

er staan er verschillende te koop op eBay,
o.a. ongeveer dezelfde die jij hebt, item nr. 5040479673 door een franse verkoper philowatch, 35 euro en die ziet er nog mooi uit,
de verkopers zou je een email kunnen sturen om meer info over dit merk.
via eBay USA en wereldwijd zoeken krijg je de meeste hits.

Not much information about this company can be found online. I was surprised to learn a bit about the background when talking to our old watchmaker in Hong Kong. He obviously knows the “resurrector” of the brand: an old Cantonese business man that had bought the rights to a couple of Swiss brands that disappeared in the “Quartz Turmoil” in the 70ies and revived them in the 80ies. Also since seemingly none of the heirs is really interesting to continue the watch business with the passion of the “old man”, it seems that some of those brands are quite inactive now.
The FHS (Federation of the Swiss Industry) defines Swiss Made like this. In a nutshell: the movement of the watch should be assembled in Switzerland. Also the fitting into the case, the mounting of dial and hands and the quality control are carried out in Switzerland. 50% of the watch movement caliber have to be manufactured in Switzerland.
As you can see the definition above leaves some room for companies where to setup their workshops. Intuitively I would have labeled the PRONTO brand like the Sandoz Hong Kong brand “Swiss Movts, assembled in HK”. However the dials of our incredibly affordable PRONTO models say “Swiss Made” and thus I have to believe that the company adheres to the FHS standard definition. I also know that the FHS and the Hong Kong watch industry work together closely. After all the Hong Kong manufacturers need the Basel Watch Fair as an exhibition platform. Thus I believe, that a company could not print wrongfully “Swiss Made” on their dials without the FHS interfering.
De merknaam was blijkbaar het handelsmerk van:
PRONTO WATCH CO. L.MAITRE & FILS S.A.
een Google zoekaktie levert ook deze bedrijfsbeeindiging op in 1999 (nog behoorlijk laat, lijkt mij!):

Het zal (zo te zien) niet erg moeilijk zijn om het horloge weer in redelijke staat te maken, een nieuw glaasje doet al direkt heel erg veel voor het uiterlijk; ook de RVS kast is makkelijk te polijsten; een servicebeurtje zal zeker niet al te duur zijn, en dan heb je toch een heel erg leuk familiebezit!

Er is al weer meer gevonden dan ikzelf heb gevonden, maar er weet nog niemand wat het voor merk (historie) het was voor 1970. Blijkbaar is het daarna nog een keer “kunsmatig” tot leven gewekt.
Ben niet ondankbaar hoor

Pronto is een handelsmerk naam van de voormalige Firma Hoffman&Vis welke gevestigd was in Rotterdam en ook een showroom had in de Nes in Amsterdam. Eind jaren 60’ is deze firma opgeheven, wat ik nog van kan herinneren wegens gebrek aan opvolging. Naast Pronto wat hun eigen merk was, waren ze ook dealer van Kienzle (Wekkers en Horloge’s).

Ik ben helemaal verbaast, volgens mij moet die site prontowatch.ch nieuw zijn, anders had ik die toch ook wel een keer gevonden. Het is wel duidelijk waar de nieuwe Pronto vandaan komt: San Po Kong, Hong Kong.
