Bedankt! Ik vind de video ook super gaaf, had al via de mail gehoord over de roest, maar in de video kan je pas echt goed zien hoeveel roest en vuil er in zat. FWC heeft dit horloge echt een tweede leven gegeven

Ik heb net mijn nieuwe aanwinst binnen na lang zoeken, gekocht van mede forumlid @Max1995. Een classic uit 2002, referentie 250.1.86. Heel blij mee.
Collector Zaf Basha in de VS heeft een fantastisch boek geschreven over de Jaeger leCoultre’s: Jaeger-lecoultre: a Guide for the Collector. Net weer verkrijgbaar in de 2e druk. Kost een vermogen, maar wel de moeite waard. Uit de bespreking door Bruce Shawkey:
One of my favorite chapters deals with what is arguably LeCoultre’s most famous watch, the Reverso, so named because the entire watch – case, movement, and crystal – can be flipped over on its reverse side without removing the watch from the wrist. The reverse side reveals a solid metal surface, thus protecting and the crystal and movement from the elements and, in the process, making a pretty darned nice looking bracelet. Originally designed as a sport watch (specifically polo) the ingenious design quickly caught on as a dress watch. So excited was the company about the case, that they brought it to market before even having their own movement to put inside it! For the first two years of the Reverso’s production, the company purchased movements from Tavannes until they invented and produced their own movement for the watch, the Caliber 11.
Several manufacturers tried to copy the Reverso, but it was never duplicated. Partially due to the many patents that LeCoultre held (and still holds) on the case design, and partially due to the extreme craftsmanship, there is no equal to the LeCoultre Reverso. (They continue to manufacture them to this day.) To hold one in your hand is the equivalent of sitting behind the wheel of a fine German automobile. It’s hard to describe in words, but in 22 pages devoted to this wonderful watch, the author comes pretty darned close.

Even een beginnersvraag: Hoe werkt dat nou met die rood/witte disc? Wat is de functie, behalve dat het allemachtig mooi staat?
Indicatie zodat je onderwater kunt zien of de chrono functie loopt (rood/wit), stop gezet is (rood), of gereset, en klaar voor gebruik is (wit).
Het is 1 van de weinige horloges waarvan je de Chrono- functie tot 100m diep kunt gebruiken.
Ik heb een Jaeger-leCoultre catalogus gekocht van hetzelfde jaar als mijn Reverso 2002 en het viel me op dat de referentienummers in de catalogus anders zijn dan op de kast (1 cijfer meer). Na enig zoeken bleek dat dit inderdaad normaal is en dat men een andere nummering hanteert in catalogi en officiële internet uitingen dan op de horloges zelf.
Via de volgende webpagina vond ik een handige tabel, waarin beide nummeringen tegen elkaar worden afgezet:
