Newcomer to the region and this community

(Apologies my posting will be in English until my Dutch improves)

Hi everyone, I am a new expat living in Antwerp, originally from Toronto Canada. I have been a watch collector (and at times a dealer and trader) for around 10 years now, having been an active member of the Canadian collecting community.

I’d love to know if there is any kind of club or in-person watch meetup community either in Belgium or the Netherlands. We had quite an active scene in Toronto and it was a great way to meet other collectors and perhaps acquire some pieces in trades or deals over a drink or two.

For other Antwerpenaars, I’d also love to know if there are any recommended watchmakers that can reliably service or repair watches. I’d much rather go to a recommended person than take my chances with google results.

Cheers everyone and I’m looking forward to getting to know this local community better.

Welkom op het forum.

Welkom. Veel plezier hier.

Welkom! Geniet van de vlaamse frieten stoofvlees! They’re better than the Canadian Poutine in my humble opinion.

Welkom

Welcome to this great forum… :+1:t2:

Welcome! And I am keeping an eye out for a DUG on the forum :hugs:

dat is waar, maar ik kan dat niet toegeven aan mijn vrienden…

Ik kan mijn impulsen niet beheersen so you may see a wrist shot of it quite soon

Welcome here. And that was my last English to you.

Red Bar Amsterdam also covers Belgium and some fanatics from Antwerp seldom skip a meet-up.

I put in my application a few months ago and did not get a reply so I will give it another shot, thanks!

Welkom in ‘Tstad’! You couldn’t have picked a better place to live. (As any Antwerpenaar will tell you)

The place where I go for servicing and repairs is Atelier Meeuws. Raymond Meeuws is a good watchmaker and if I understood him correctly, is trying to pass the craft on to his son, so the business should keep going for the foreseeable future.
