… Thank you for contacting
Glycine Heritage department.
That’s a nice and clean example of an Altus timepiece, congratulations.
Rob, Glycine and Altus have merged in August 1963 and to comemorate this event
’ Glycine Altus ’ models have been manufactured. At the other hand both
companies still had their own manufacture. Yours is from those examples. In our
manufacture records we see that this particular model has been manufactured 3
times. First in 1963, then in 1967 and finally in 1972. The serial number '
462575 ’ indicates manufacture date of 15 March 1972.
The mark ’ 646A ’ is the case shape and specifications reference. Back in
1970s, the word ’ waterproof ’ was banned in some countries ( arguement
was no watch can be 100% waterproof ), therefore your case-back has the marking
’waterpressure tested ’ another indicater of post 1968 manufacture.
We hope that the information we shared is convenient for you, please let us
know further questions or concerns.

En over het gebruikte kalibertje:
Unfortunately we don’t have
the movement records and details of the Altus watch except the combined serial
numbers with Glycine. In those years ETA 27xy family movements were highly
utilized in our factories and that may be also the movement family cased in
Altus,it’s just an educated guess though.
One of our heritage watchmakers who cooperates with us in re-surrecting and
servicing vintage Glycine watches is also in The Netherlands. If you decide to
have it serviced or checked you can have peace of mind with him. His name is
Ronald Prins and has his own website: http://uwklokkenmaker.nl/vintage-horloges/
Ronald is recently on vacation and will return to his workshop around 10th of
July, FYI.
Sorry that we were not able to assist you further regarding the movement of
your watch but hope to stay in touch for further questions or concerns,
we remain with best wishes and kindest regards,

Gaaf he? Als dat geen service is dan weet ik het niet meer!
Helaas dus geen 1962 maar 1972, never mind: het blijft een schitterend en nu helemaal, perfect gedocumenteerd horloge!!
