I was being absurdist, if the context was not directly understandable. I do not know my history. In fact, I am trying to go through “Van Nul tot Nu” when I have the spare time.
Thank you for elaborating. While the original work is indeed faulty, I have decided not to change the contents of it. However, I will delve deeper into the etymology of Dutch language - it is something I should understandably know or least be aware of - and be aware when the subject arises again in the future.

Forgive my rustiness on the philosophy, but according to the pragmatism, the watches have been reduced to nothing more than an eye candy piece on one’s wrist with the introduction of another portable device that performs the same function to a much more accurate and precise standards.
Let us take your argument and take it further - a ring. While the most common method a goldsmith will perform is the one taking the least amount of effort, that does not need to be case. In fact, they may choose to take the most contrived path that leads to the ring’s creation, from smelting the ore themselves to, for argument’s sake, spinning it into thread, twisting and conjoining it, deriving elaborate, ornamental parts to ultimately produce a spruced up golden band. Ultimately, it will still be just a ring, a piece of jewelry (a word I find amusing, given the lack of jewels).

Even then, it’s not just a ring.

Lol, ik weet dat je gewoon te lui bent om te lezen . Meestal schrijf ik dat ook in het begin, nu dus bewust niet. Benieuwd of TS het ook leest, geen reactie nog gezien. En ik ga het echt niet in het Engels schrijven, dan leert hij nooit Nederlands .

No they didn’t. The invention of the screwdriver did not alter the function of the hammer, but on top of that:

Most computing devices aren’t particularly accurate in and of themselves, whether they calculate time based on operations, interrupts or with a RTC. In the latter case, it’s basically quartz oscillator, which is about as accurate as a regular quartz watch.

Somewhere, in a basement, sits an atomic clock that gives the time to a Time Protocol Server, which then broadcasts said time, plus an offset for travel latency, across the world using NTP.

Computing devices don’t so much measure or “know” the time more accurately than the average watch does autonomously, they get “told” the time, ultimately by a clock. And in between being told, they experience time drift, so they have to be told often.

Citizen Watch Co makes quartz watches that autonomously are rated to +/- 1 second per year, and they are de facto the most accurate autonomous time measurement system that is somewhat wearable on the wrist.

Until such time as they create a wrist-sized atomic clock, watches do in fact have horological significance, especially High Accuracy Quartz. And let’s be honest:

This is sexier than a telephone.
