Well, this is baffling. @montresbreguet has had two and a half centuries to prepare for this moment.
If ever there was a time to electrify the brand—to storm the Bastille of modern relevance—this was it. Instead, we get a polite shrug.
Maybe this is just a soft start. A genteel amuse-bouche before the real horological fireworks later this year. We can only hope.
Yes, the watch is historically literate, and yes, much of it was already predicted*.
As the hour hand is on the barrel it will go 8 turns over its 4 days of PR. 2025 and calibre VS00 includes:
Blue silicon (apeing blued steel)
Overcoil hairspring
Breguet numerals and hand
Enamel almost pie-pan dial with secret signature
Parachute-style shock system
No ‘folded’ style cocks for the 3rd and 4th wheels
No soldered lugs (cheaper) recall the 3800 and just styled to echo the older shape
No coin-edge case
It’s a lovely whimsical essay on Breguet without being a laboured checklist. I like it. And this could have worked if it were a truly affordable entry point. A piece that retells the original Souscription’s story, philosophy, and democratic intent.
If it was steel, and 1/3 the price, it could have been Breguet’s ‘Chronometre Bleu’ moment. But if you’re going to charge this much, then Breguet, do the work. This isn’t enough.
The collector consensus is already “Cool piece - glad it exists – overpriced - but not for me.” Breguet have got to break this or there will not be a 260th birthday.
Meanwhile they leave us to eat cake…

Voor wat betreft de nieuwe. Absoluut niet de dial waar je op hoopt van Breguet. Best wel een beetje jammer

Je moet van een 1 wijzerhorloge houden. Maar teleurstellend kan ik dit niet noemen. Er zijn maar weinig mensen, ook op HF, die dit kunnen betalen maar je hebt dan wél wat. Er zit een prachtig uurwerk in en de kast vind ik erg elegant.

Ik vind het ook een fraai stukje werk, zou ik er dat geld aan uit geven? Tenzij mijn bankrekening een paar extra nullen er bij krijgt niet.
Nou…
De kast met deze lugs zijn wel echt super gaaf en een grote verbetering.
Maar een one hand is niks voor mijn smaak.

Heel gaaf, maar blijft bij breguet een moeilijke koop als je voor 20k minder al een pre-owned Tourbillon in min of meer dezelfde kast koopt
