For @Heineken :
I apologize for my (dis)behavior in reply of your topic!
Hi Dave,
It’s almost 6:30am here in Canada and I’m just getting myself ready to fly to your lovely country but while coffee is brewing I’m going to this feed.
I did get your PM thank you.
I know a healthy dose of precaution and apprehension is perfectly normal for a get-together and admittedly I was harboring similar emotions before getting into Redbar or other meetings with my watch(es). It’s important to know that you cannot just walk into a Redbar without them checking YOU out for similar reasons. We have about 40plus people show up at every meeting. We are still in the big bad city of Toronto walking around with our ‘loot’ to be taken away from our wrist or bag. If you think like this why even in the first place go frolicking about everyday wearing a $20,000 timepiece on your wrist meeting people you don’t know every 10 minutes? There are plenty at our Redbar meetings bringing watch rolls or even briefcases filled with a selection of their collection. I on the other hand only bring no more than two pieces and sometimes just the one on my wrist just to be secure. Redbar members, if we let you be one, must adhere to a number of secure rules and are very respectful to one another.
What I’m going to say next will blow your mind and you probably never want to be part of Redbar; we come in, find a spot to display our stuff and order a drink or some food. Your buddies show up too and you haven’t seen some for a while and decide yo catch up and leave… your stuff on the table. Yes you do. You come back and it’s still all there or someone is now hovering over your new Hublot which is totally fine. Before they touch it, they ask. There’s always someone who steals the show (not your watch) with some awesome grail. Brrr right?
If you’re not open to trust anyone you better always stay home with your beautiful watch collection. If you are open to the idea of trusting some people and making new friends to show our fellow nerds what makes you tick about timepieces then you could start asking questions directly instead of spreading your fear among your other friends whom you probably never met in person either. This is an opportunity to be part of something Dave. Nobody but your fellow collectors understand us nerds so how great will it be to meet each other for real?
Ok, here’s something you could check out from where you are; my buddies whom I know personally and have met one-on-one (you can now verify) are Michiel (holtshinrichwatched), Ralph (fiftyfathomsmilspec) and Laurens de Rijke.
Glancing over this feed I get the impression you guys are never able to meet anybody. I’m generalizing of course but I’ve also received a great many pm’s from this forum who secretly want to be part of something like this. Wether you do or don’t makes no difference to me but if you like this it’s going to have to start with some trust.
My coffee is ready good friends.
Looking forward to be verified and as I mentioned before I will be back in the spring of 2020 and I like to see all of you wussies hahaha.
(…the spring is something we generally use in our centences here in North America instead of just spring - for those who common my grammar )
No worries Dave.
All good
Thanks for recommendation. And @Heineken you gotta pass by with a name like that. You are very well represented over at ours.
I would be more than down for Redbar in the Netherlands. I won’t be able to attend next week but I’ll keep an eye out next time you’re here
Thanks Jasper,
Looking forward to meet you. Ralph (fiftyfathomsmilspec) was going to take me over to your place last May and also meeting with RJBroer but something else came up unfortunately.
I know you like Heineken, you must feel lonely here.
2onds
There a lot of it to love about that ploprof. Honors the Dutch too with its rubber strap.
Nice feed. Wide range of different watches.
Started following you.
Maybe “in the” spring I’m comming over when it matches my agenda. I like the idea of a Get together.
Thank you for this reply and accepting my apologies.
It makes me feel less bad for my behaviour (in some way).
Enough (or to much) said, I will retreat from this topic.
Ah bummer @HanDavinci
Bruhh…
Redbar members are very respectful to one another
To one another.
That doesn’t mean I have to be respectful to outsiders. So join, suckahhhhhhhhhh.
Do you see how easy I can persuade people?
Mind games.
@Dave76 no worries buddy, nothing wrong with being a bit skeptical. It is not all pink out there. You raises some questions with respect and @Heineken had a great reply. So, blue sky again
Would be nice to meet you in one of the meet-ups
Awesome Love to meet you
Thanks
Ralph (fiftyfathomsmilspec)
I know him from Wristbusters on Instagram…
